Internet restrictions are not surprise for Internet users in Indonesia.
Pornographic content is prohibited in this country and recently Tumblr blogging platform was banned in Indonesia for distributing adult content.
According to e-business director at Indonesia’s Information Ministry, Azhar Hasyim, the decision had been made without consultation with the New York-based company, owned by Yahoo, BBC informs.
“We must ban the site first, and tell them later,”
Mr Hasyim said.
Indonesia has already ordered social networking sites to remove any emotions representing same-sex couples.
According to Indonesian media, about 500 sites were shut down by authorities.
Besides that Netflix was blocked by Indonesia’s biggest internet service provider.
The same situation with Vimeo video hosting. It was also restricted in Indonesia for adult only content.
